Entry #15: Yet again I will reveal who was voted out at the end of this post.
Oh my god. Lisa is gone. If you check the date on the last entry, the round ended on September 13 2009. This round didn’t end until September 22nd. There will be an even bigger break before the following round of play.
As I said before, momentum came to a screeching halt post-merge. Each round could be anywhere between four to eighteen days. This all culminates with the Final Tribal Council taking 2 1/2 months to complete. No joke.
Immediately following the round Lisa and Dianne called numerous times to make Natasha and Gayle feel guilty about their decision. Dianne, after compromising by eliminating Jerry last round, was dead set on eliminating Adam or Brett no matter what this round.
That means if Adam wins immunity, Brett really needs to stop playing around and use his idol. He has been on borrowed time for three rounds. If Adam doesn’t win immunity, he knows he has to use his own idol. However, during this time Adam was working to align with Dianne. In fact him and Dianne made an alliance. It was clear to everyone that Natasha and Gayle couldn’t be trusted by either side anymore because their moves didn’t exactly line up with the logic of the game.
So Adam may be safe from the vote even if he loses the challenge because Dianne and Brett will presumably have his back. Gayle and Natasha may go on to regret eliminating Lisa prematurely more than they had anticipated. Gayle and Natasha also made a side deal with Adam and Brett at the time.
Suddenly Jerry was completely invisible because he had no role in Lisa’s elimination or attempted preservation in the previous round. He was truly flying under the radar.
This round marks the ultimate decision for the Double Tribal Council Trigger. Will the winner of the challenge be immune for two TCs this round or next round? That was the first order of business this round.
The Double Tribal Council is NOT used this round. That means it will be used by default next round. So whoever wins next round’s immunity will automatically advance to the Final Three.
You can probably anticipate how weird that is when it occurs.
Mix in four idols and multiple alliances, and we have a very confusing round to play through. With Lisa gone everyone was uneasy because anything could happen.
I don’t know why over a week passed before we played the immunity challenge, but I’ll assume I attributed it to university or knowing this was the most exciting part of the game to let people strategize.
Immunity Challenge XIV: Saving An Angel
This is the most memorable individual challenge since the opening post-merge challenge of “I’m gonna win”. This challenge and the two remaining immunity challenges in the season finale are the four most memorable challenges of the season.
I took this challenge directly from one used back when Andrew Park hosted Facebook ORGs. Each player had ten strikes to their name. Secretly each player received the name of the person they had to save. Whoever was able to keep their player alive the longest would win immunity.
For once you get to see the entire transcript of the challenge and who was saving who. By the way, do you know what made this challenge unique? All six players showed up to play!
That’s right. All six players wanted individual immunity and decided to show up.
JERRY: Secret: You are saving (Dianne) in this challenge.
ADAM: Secret: You are saving (Natasha) in this challenge.
BRETT: Secret: You are saving (Gayle) in this challenge.
GAYLE: Secret: You are saving (Jerry) in this challenge.
DIANNE: Secret: You are saving (Brett) in this challenge
NATASHA: Secret: You are saving (Adam) in this challenge.
So it’s pretty straight forward. All six players received this fifteen minutes before the start of the challenge. You must save the player you are assigned in order to win immunity.
And yes, when I saw I had this challenge planned I knew Adam was royally screwed out of winning immunity. Everyone would collude to ensure he did not win.
Immunity Challenge #14 Topic
Every five minutes, you will take two points away. You can take two points away from the same person, or spread it out to one point from two people.
Penalty for those who were just exiled: Every third round, you may only take away one point.
Whoever is the last person standing will NOT win individual immunity.
EDITOR’S NOTE: I made that note to ensure that players understood the meaning behind their secret mission.
The challenge ends when only person is left standing.
Even if you are eliminated, you can still take away points each round.
ME: Figure out how immunity is assigned in this challenge, and you may steal your way into the final episode of this game.

You guys will just announce what move you’re making.
At the end of each round, I’ll post the current standings, which will initiate the next round.
We’ll start at exactly 8:15pm by beginning with round two because I stopped the game before round two could end.

ME: You’re not going to believe who won immunity.
ME: Adam wins individual immunity!
He was protecting Natasha for the challenge, and she was the last person standing!
Tribal Council will take place tomorrow at 8:00pm. He will only send ONE person to Exile Carnival for this round to receive a slight disadvantage on Day 37.
DIANNE: If it is Adam….warren could I borrow your gun
JERRY: hmmm… I thought the last person couldn’t win immunity, so saving them would not leave them standing last, since then they couldn’t win immunity. cheeeeeez … duh
ME: (Dianne) has been sent to Exile Carnival again. You’ll receive a slight disadvantage at the Day 37 immunity challenge (assuming you survive this round’s Day 36 vote), but at least you get some time on Exile Carnival.
(Adam) is safe for the fifth time in a row. Sadly, for one of the other five of you, this game will come to an end right before our final episode.
GAYLE: darn adam!
BRETT: which days the vote??
And there you have it. Adam won his fifth challenge in a row. A challenge he wasn’t even supposed to win. This should have been the round where he fights to stay alive or plays his idol. Instead he continues to coast with a hidden immunity idol in his pocket.
I remember this night vividly because my jaw dropped as I realized Adam had won the challenge. He ran up the flight of stairs to the living room and did the Rocky dance. This is somebody who was down 8-2 after Simone was voted out. Now he is entering day 37 with a hidden immunity idol that is unknown to everyone else except for Jerry who is suspicious.
Natasha, Gayle, and Dianne were all celebrating that Natasha had presumably won immunity. They managed to miss not only the “You are saving ____” but also my first post where I said “Last person left standing does NOT win immunity”.
So how did they miss two gigantic cues?
Well, about ten minutes before the start of the challenge Lisa calls Gayle and Natasha. Natasha, who doesn’t have a computer, did this challenge entirely through Gayle’s Facebook. Gayle answered the phone to chat with Lisa while the challenge was going on. She also happened to be sitting on the computer waiting for the challenge to start. She saw a notification for a new message, but didn’t bother to read it.
I don’t know how Dianne missed it. I don’t think she still doesn’t know either.
Out of pure excitement I think they didn’t bother reading the important instructions and intentionally set it up so that one of them was last person standing. I recall Natasha cheering that she had overthrown Adam in immunity challenges. Sadly that celebration lasted for a whole two or three minutes.
Adam and Brett meanwhile knew what was going on. Both of them messaged each other who they needed to save. This was when they decided to ally permanently because Dianne, Gayle, and Natasha weren’t going to break barring another big disagreement. They were on the edge of their seats as they knew no one else had caught on, and they knew Gayle and Natasha would eliminate each other in the final round. Therefore Brett eliminated Natasha and Adam eliminated Gayle. Natasha and Gayle now each had only two strikes left in the challenge. Dianne and Jerry assigned each of their strikes to Gayle. It wasn’t Adam who won immunity for himself for the first time all game–it was Jerry and Lisa. Lisa served as a distraction while Jerry cast the final vote to ensure Adam won his fifth challenge while Brett finished in second for the fourth time in five challenges.
Brett finishing second at every challenge probably made him more frustrated than any other player. I mean, Brett actually knew what was going on each challenge and was competitive. The others had not been competitive since Gayle won the idol in the first post-merge challenge.
Plus Brett must determine what to do with his idol once again. Does he play it or will him and Adam take advantage of Jerry’s constant self-voting to make it a 3-3 tie in the worst case scenario?
Dianne was not budging. She was going to vote against Brett. Seeing how nobody knew if Final Tribal Council would be a Final Two or Final Three, Dianne thought getting rid of Brett now meant they would have two shots left to eliminate Adam. For the past four challenges nobody has been able to do better than Brett or Adam.
Brett and Adam were going to vote Jerry.
So once again Natasha and Gayle were in the middle. In reality Natasha will decide once again who goes home. The quietest player in the game continues to hold the most power. She -still- hasn’t shown up to a TC discussion since the merge and has only participated in two individual challenges as well. Nobody could have predicted that the computer-less player would be making all of the decisions.
Will Brett play his idol? Will the last multiple self-voter be eliminated from the game? Or will another threat be ousted from the game?
And yes, Natasha will miss the sixth post-merge TC discussion in a row. How she thought Lisa was being more inactive than her is beyond me.
TRIBAL COUNCIL 15
ME: Tribal Council #15
Who’s all here?
GAYLE: I am
DIANNE: me too
DIANNE: Dianne looks around nervously after the blindside last time
GAYLE: Gayle fidgets
DIANNE: dianne wonders if she has a target on her back, but doesn’t know who she can trust to ask.
Yesterday there were some shocked faces as to the results of the previous round. How do you make nice with the surprised people?
Well I just figure, they know if they are pulling their weight at challenges or not.
Go ahead and brag about your fifth win in a row.
I got lucky last time I can’t really brag, I think I was one point away from losing.
Do you think observance is a skill that very few people have had at all during the course of this game?
I know it is one that I lack for sure.
You’re runner-up yet again. How frustrating is it to lose to Adam over and over and over and over again?
I just really like finishing second. I may have to poison his coconut milk
DIANNE: I say brett should get Jerry’s gun and shoot adam
Do you think that if this were a Mole game you guys wouldn’t stand a chance at all because observance has never been really used in this game?
If it was a mole game, I am sure we would be observing everything to an extreme and analyzing every word.
We have two immunity challenges remaining in this game. Do you think you can complete the sweep of the talisman?
I highly doubt it, it depends on the challenges. If it’s a challenge where people can team up I don’t think I have a chance, such as last challenge if instead the goal was just to knock the person out.
So it’s pretty clear that you don’t have any intentions of taking Adam to the end?
NOPE I think it would be to hard to sit beside him… His head may push me off the bench
There’s an idol from Exile, an idol from the challenge (Gayle) two rewards given out after the opening challenge of the game to you and (Gayle) and a secret advantage that somebody has for the second half of the game. How do you figure all of this out and use it in your strategy?
* an idol from the challenge that (Gayle) won
I guess try and gain trust and then convince them to lick a toad and then read their journal
i cant see there being any other way
What do you do if you lose one of the upcoming challenges?
I dig a hole hide and emerge when it’s time for the final vote
Comfortable with tonight’s vote and that you’ll be in the finale?
I am never comfortable on vote night, you know what happens when you get to comfortable. I have no idea if I will make the finale, would be nice though if I could.
How disappointing would it be to be voted out just before the finale?
For people that it might happen to, probably very disappointing. But I don’t plan on that happening to me.
DIANNE: Dianne snickers
QUESTION FOR EVERYONE EXCEPT ADAM
Who is concerned that they’ll be voted out this round?
Dianne, getting a back bone….. NOT ME
GAYLE: I think dianne might be hurt her daughter is gone.
Always a possibility in this game with all its twists and turns
So if you’re concerned, does that mean you’ll be playing an idol tonight?
well you should know that answer jeff
ME: I s’pose we’ll find out soon enough.
GAYLE: I suppose we will….
DIANNE: Dianne stands up rips the target off her back and stomps her dainty foot.
Shakes her fist at the sky and says, ” Never again will I be blindsided”
ME: I think it’s time for me to go and tally the votes.
DIANNE: yes, please, It may turn ugly soon
ME: If anybody wants to play an idol this round, this will be the last chance that they have to play it before I read the votes.
ADAM: CRIME AND PUNISHMENT
ADAM: sorry go on
ME: Nice guess, Adam.
ME: Alright, once the votes are read the decision is final and the person voted out will be asked to leave the Tribal Council area immediately.
ME: I’ll read the votes.
ME: First vote, which happens to be a self-vote:
Second vote: (Warren)
Third vote: (Brett)
Fourth vote: (Warren)
Fifth vote. . .
The fifteenth person voted out of this game and the sixth member of our jury. . .
(Jerry) the tribe has spoken.
DIANNE: Dianne is sad…. her partner is gone
GAYLE: Yes we will miss him for sure
ME: After thirty-six days, it’s finally here.
ME: Congratulations, you guys are the Final Five. Here’s where we’re at: Three days, two immunity challenges, and in the end, one Survivor.
Note: Somebody didn’t use their secret advantage for the second half of the game, and thus it will automatically be put into play for Day 37. I’ll let you know what that means before your next challenge.
Grab your torches and head back to camp. Get some rest cause I think you’re going to need it. Good night.
DIANNE: Savages, you all are savages!
GAYLE: gayle pats diannes head
(Warren) Trying to stick with the bigger group of Gayle, Dianne, and Natasha since it’s just me and Brett and they could have gotten rid of us many times. I think I’ll use hidden immunity either way next time (if I still can I need to double check when the last time is). If I win immunity I’ll get brett to use it, if brett wins or anyone else I’ll use it on myself. Then it should be down to four of us and hopefully me or Brett wins, although I don’t know if brett will stick to the alliance. My guess is that we will have a final three this time, just seems timewise to make sense so we’ll see. I hope my idol is real!!!!
so close to immuntiy!!! I like to get second place apparently! Im thinking I should be safe with tash and mom voting the same and then adam in the alliance as well. Family members wouldnt turn on each other. Or would they???
I vote to evict Brett
After the blindside at the last challenge by my “alliance” I don’t know what to expect. I am voting to evict Brett as a proxy for Adam. I know it won’t matter if they are voting for who they say they are. But I just want to be a REBEL!
Lisa had given me her immunity idol she go ton exile. Can I use it or can it only be used by the oridginal person. We were taking turns having the choice to use it and I had it last week. So can I use it sometime?
ME: Nope. She was the original person who found that idol code, and thus it is dead.
I vote for Jerry I am still staying with the plan of participation, though it is getting harder and harder to do. Its getting to be a real dilemma for me. I like all my tribemates so that is why its getting so difficult to do. Who knows I could get blindsided tonight myself, I will be sad to go but it is the game of survivor!
self-vote for the sixth and final time
i vote for (Warren)
confessional: I just think Warren has played less than the others
Sadly Jerry wasn’t invested enough in the game to ask me how to find the voting thread, and seeing how he didn’t watch much Survivor in the first place, I think he viewed this as a fun game to jump into whenever he was bored. It’s too bad because I was really excited what he could have done to break up this dynamic.
And what’s even worse is that Natasha solely went by who she thought wasn’t participating enough yet again. It’s tough to even consider Natasha as being in an alliance when she votes for whoever she thinks is participating in the order of least to most. The fact we are five TCs away from the game being done has not interrupted her voting philosophy. In fact Natasha’s voting philosophy has been her only presence in the game for the past seven rounds.
Jerry is the last semi-inactive player out of the game. I enjoyed his presence throughout the season, even if he voted less than half of the time.
It’s crazy that Adam didn’t even need immunity this round. Judging by how rigid Natasha was with her vote reasoning, I think she would have ousted Jerry regardless of Adam being immune. Gayle probably doesn’t care as much because she is all but guaranteed a day 39 appearance thanks to her TWO hidden immunity idols still in her possession. Adam and Brett of course know they are still in the minority and will tag along with whoever Natasha votes against.
There isn’t much else to say about this round. It was a relaxing round given nobody was willing to make another big move.
Entry #15: Jerry – Inukshuk – September 22 2009 – SCWL: The Prequel
– Made it the second furthest of all partners
– Last person standing of those who didn’t start out as a captain or win individual immunity
– Last person standing of those who cast more than one self-vote during the game
– The only person who self-voted post-merge who lasted longer than someone who never self-voted post-merge
As I said before, I was sad to see Jerry go in such a quiet and unflattering way.
Next up is the five-part season finale. It is five parts to cover each of the five remaining players.
Part 1: Immunity challenge, TC, first voteout. (Long)
Part 2: Second voteout. (Short)
Part 3: Final Immunity Challenge and third voteout. (Medium)
Part 4: FTC and runner-up. (Long)
Part 5: Summary of season and how the winner found their way into the winner’s circle. (Long)
So what was my mindset heading into the season finale other than “thank god it’s almost over”?
I thought that I will need to be really sharp because four idols and a Double Tribal Council Trigger would all be used in the next round. A two-part challenge, two Tribal Councils, and four idols all in one round of play. This is the last thing I wanted to happen. I can’t think of another ORG where THREE idols given out on day 1 made it to its expiry date and a fourth idol that EVERYONE knew about would survive six TCs and make it to the expiry date as well.
If Adam or Brett win double immunity, then the other will simply play both idols back-to-back. But at Final Four you can screw up because even if it’s a 2-2 vote, you need to have the highest number of past votes in order for the idol to activate. So if Brett or Adam have less PV than Gayle/Natasha/Dianne, then they may waste an idol as they are stuck behind for TC and whoever wasted the idol goes home by default. Then bring in two idols into the equation and. . .oh, the headache.
My assumption is that Brett and Adam would outplay the women in terms of idol usage and both advance to the Final Three. The next challenge seemed too complex for Natasha, Dianne, or Gayle to win.
But absolutely nothing has gone as planned all season. Maybe somebody refuses to play an idol or the idol is played on the wrong person. I knew Adam had an alliance with all remaining players. Everything was still up in the air. I mean, there’s four freakin’ idols on day 37!!!!
So should I break down our Final Five? Yes, I shall.
ADAM – The challenge dominator. Since the beginning his tribe has won immunity whenever Adam participates. He is the only one remaining who isn’t a captain, but after winning immunity five times in a row against all odds and having the Exile Carnival idol since day one, Adam just needs to win two more challenges to make it to the end. Will a jury respect his challenge dominance? Or will his lack of being at risk and making tough decisions ultimately cost him?
BRETT – Adam winning every challenge has put him as the man destined to go home each round because he is only one of two threats to the women’s alliance since day one. After several close calls can Brett finally win double immunity? And if so, will he turn against the only guy who has beat him in challenges since the merge? But if he loses, can he rely upon using his idol as well as Adam’s to stay alive?
DIANNE – A captain from the beginning who has been always present but yet has flown under the radar. Her daughter was blindsided two rounds ago and is out for revenge. After failing to vote in the minority for the second straight round, and never being remotely close to winning a challenge nor claiming an idol, will she be on her way out the door? Or will her unthreatening nature help her reach the end?
GAYLE – Everything has gone her way since day one when she was a captain. She has two idols and a Double Tribal Council Trigger heading into the finale. Her name has yet to come up as a target as she is always in the majority since the beginning of the season. She is guaranteed to make it to Final Three unless she screws up her idol usage. Will she walk into the end and claim the easiest win of all time?
NATASHA – She flipped to the Lisa-Dianne-Gayle-Lyndsay-Jerry-Kai alliance at the merge. Natasha has participated in five challenges all season and only two TC discussions, but has more elimination votes than anyone else this season. She single-handedly voted out Scott LePage to begin her journey after being the fourth/final captain on day one. And ever since then has been the main catalyst behind each vote as she votes out people in the order from the least active to the most active. But with Adam and Brett bigger threats than ever, will she finally discard that strategy or will she sacrifice her own game in the process? And how will Natasha do in front of a jury that has nobody to blame but her for their elimination?
Four captains and a challenge dominator who all have a shot at winning. One of these five will win the worst season in SCWL history.
NEXT TIME ON SCWL: THE PREQUEL:
– The start of the season finale. Nobody self-votes for the remainder of the season! Every vote will count from now until the end of the game.
– The Double Tribal Council Trigger is revealed to the other four players. The stakes have never been higher as not only does a win guarantee you safe passage to the Final Three, but past the second and third eliminations of active participants.
– The immunity challenge is revealed. It is a challenge so big and so complex that not one, not two, but THREE two-hour sessions are required to crown the winner of immunity. In the end it comes down to mere seconds. Can Adam keep his streak alive?
– And the first of two Tribal Councils will be played. Adam, Brett, and Gayle have each held onto an idol since day one. Will at least one be played? And will it be used to confuse the game as much as possible?
– And all five contestants will be online for the live TC Discussion as votes are cast twenty minutes after the immunity challenge ends.
– One player goes home which leaves players twenty minutes to prepare for the following Tribal Council.
